Despite suing doctor for mistake, woman is happy with the outcome

Incidents of medical malpractice in Illinois and throughout the U.S. often result in devastating injuries or the loss of a life. Although one woman did suffer emotionally and physically from a surgical errorthat was made over a year ago, the mistake has also given her and her family a lot to celebrate. In fact, the mistake resulted in the woman having a baby she thought she would never meet.

In March 2012, the woman learned that she was at risk of dying if she continued to go through with her pregnancy. The woman decided to have an abortion in order to terminate the high-risk pregnancy. The decision was difficult, but the woman wanted to make sure she took care of herself so that her young son would not have to grow up without his mother.

The woman had the abortion performed, and the surgeon who performed the abortion had assured her that the procedure was done correctly without any complications. One week later, though, the woman and her fiancé discovered that they were still expecting a baby.

Last month, the woman filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who had performed the abortion as well as the clinic where the abortion had been performed. Although the woman has since given birth to a healthy baby girl and is happy to have her daughter in her life, the woman wants to make sure the doctor and clinic are held accountable for making a serious surgical error.

The woman spent the rest of her pregnancy worrying about her health and her baby’s health. And she wants to know what the doctor removed from her body when the doctor informed her that the abortion had been performed correctly. The woman has stated that she can’t even think about where she would be today had the abortion been performed correctly, but she does believe that the doctor and clinic need to be held accountable for their negligence. The clinic claims that it did nothing wrong.
